The revision in the exterior styling of the new Ertiga is prominent. It has a new highly-pronounced triple-slat chrome grille that stretches sideways all the way to the headlamps, a new front bumper with smaller air-dam and fresh fog lamp trims, and a refurbished rear bumper with reflectors, while the centre-mounted rear fog lamp has been removed. The wheel caps on the lower variants gets a new design now, and the same goes for the alloy wheels on the top 'Z' versions.
The feature list of the Ertiga facelift is updated with a driver-side airbag as standard across all variants, and a new option pack for the low-end 'L' variants, which gives it dual front airbags and ABD with EBD.

The mid-level 'V' models of the new Ertiga receives remote keyless entry, a new entertainment system with Bluetooth, AUX and USB connectivities, steering mounted audio controls, electric folding and adjustable outside mirrors embedded with turn indicators, reverse parking sensors, and a 12V power socket and AC for the second row occupants.
The high-end 'Z' trims of the 2016 Maruti Ertiga is given brand new alloy wheels, a rear wiper and washer with defogger, and a height adjustable driver’s seat.
A range-topping 'Z+' variant is added to the new version of the MPV, which features Maruti's new SmartPlay infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen display, navigation and voice recognition. It also gets keyless entry and go, and push-button for engine start/stop.

The engines are carried over from the outgoing model, which includes the 1.4-litre K14 petrol and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel units, but are retuned for higher efficiency and mileage. The latter now gets the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology by default, which adds micro-hybrid technology for higher fuel economy and lower emissions.
The SHVS includes an automatic stop-start system, a brake energy recuperation system and an Engine Power Assist system. Further, a gear-shift indicator is added to the multi-information display in the instrument cluster, to prompt a change in gear for lower fuel consumption.
Both engines are mated to a five-speed manual transmission in all variants. The VXi model alone gets an option of a four-speed automatic transmission, making it the only automatic MPV in its segment.
