Priced from ZAR 189,900.
Volkswagen South Africa has launched the facelifted 2015 VW Polo sedan (sold in India as the VW Vento), starting at a lowered price of ZAR 189,900 (INR 9.41 Lakhs). It is available in two trim levels: Trendline and Comfortline.
The facelift brings in much need changes to the exterior design of the VW Polo sedan. The front-end features a triple-slat chrome grille, revised bumper with longer foglamps, and a chrome accent running across the lower fascia.
The rear-end gets a chrome bar running across the boot, revised taillamp clusters, and an exhaust pipe cutout. New metallic colour options come in the form of Night Blue, Carbon Steel, Titanium Beige and Toffee Brown.
Despite the price cut, VW hasn't skimped on any of the standard features. The entry level Polo sedan Trendline has an audio system, remote central locking, electric windows, dual front airbags and ABS brakes. The Comfortline trim adds an upgraded sound system with Bluetooth, electric mirrors, leather multi-function steering wheel and cruise control.
While the India-spec VW Vento has a 1.2-liter TSI petrol, the South Africa spec VW Polo sedan makes do with naturally aspirated 1.4-liter and a 1.6-liter petrol motors that produce 63 kW (84.4 hp)/132 Nm and 77 kW (103.2 hp)/155 Nm, respectively.
A smaller 1.5-liter TDI replaces the 1.6-liter TDI, capable of delivering 77 kW (103.2 hp) and 250 Nm of torque. Transmission options include 5-speed manual for both petrol and diesel variants, and a 6-speed tiptronic auto for the 1.6-liter variant.
