VECV, the 50-50 joint venture between Eicher Motors and the Volvo Group launched the Pro 6000 Series in India yesterday. The Pro 6000 range in India comprises of the 6031 and 6025 haulage trucks and the 6025T tipper truck. Going forth, the brand plans to launch the Pro 8000 Series in India next.
Vinod Aggarwal, Chief Executive Officer, VE Commercial Vehicles Limited, said that VECV will bring in the Pro 8000 Series of trucks this year, but simultaneously, it will also expand the Pro 6000 Series range. He however did not mention the exact models that would launch.
According to media reports, VECV would launch a 49 tonne 6×4 tractor trailer which could be part of the 8000 Series. This model, again according to reports, will be powered by a 280 hp diesel engine.
VECV also confirmed that it would export the Pro 6000 Series range of trucks. In the immediate future, the company plans on exporting the trucks to South-Asian markets. However, markets like Africa will also get these trucks once they’re suitably modified for local market requirements.
Products aside, a new 3.8-liter diesel engine, believed to have been developed in India, will also be introduced this year.
