The 2015 Nissan Navara, the latest iteration of the longstanding pickup nameplate, has been unveiled in Thailand.
The 12th generation pickup truck employs the brand's latest V-Motion design language with generous application of chrome on the exterior. The new Navara receives LED daytime running lights, turn indicators on wing mirrors and two new exterior color options - Savannah Yellow and Earth Bronze.
The interior adopts a completely new dashboard with silver and chrome inserts. The instrument console incorporates a TFT display for compass, turn-to-turn navigational support and fuel economy indicator. The centre console houses a touchscreen multimedia infotainment system.
Power for the new Nissan Navara comes from tweaked versions of the outgoing car's 2.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. The diesel motor is available in two states of tune - 163 PS with 403 Nm of torque, and 190 PS with 450 Nm of torque. The fuel efficiency of the oil burner is claimed to have improved by up to 11%.
The output details of the gasoline engine is not discussed in the press release. This petrol engine produces 165 PS and 250 Nm of torque in the outgoing model. Both the engines are mated either to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic transmission. The pickup is also equipped with a shift-on-the-fly 4x4 system.
Apart from usual safety features like ABS, EBD, Aribags, the 2015 Navara's equipment list includes Vehicle Dynamic Control, Active Brake Limited Slip, Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control. Depending on the market, the vehicle will be available in different body styles such as narrow- and wide-body, king and double cab.
Sales of the 2015 Nissan Navara is expected to commence later this year. Nissan has hinted that the new pickup could spawn a 7-seat SUV which would rival the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavor, Isuzu MU-7 and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
