Mercedes-Benz have sent out the first teaser for the refreshed Mercedes CLS Class, which is due to be revealed later this month. The teaser image shows the front fascia with thoroughly redesigned headlights, grille and bumper.
Mercedes doesn't talk much about the car, rather the company has detailed the headlights. The Multibeam LED headlights which will debut on the refreshed CLS, bring about more innovation than the standard LED headlights, says Mercedes. They allow the driver to use the high beam function throughout without dazzling oncoming vehicles. The high beam range has gone up by 20 percent to 485 meters.
The Multibeam technology also features camera-based active light function. The system uses a windshield-mounted camera to scan the traffic ahead, and based on inputs which are measured 100 times a second, it can activate all 24 LEDs located in a lamp module. Apart from the camera-based system, the Multibeam technology can use the navigation system to better prepare itself for the road conditions ahead.
The refreshed CLS is expected to use existing engines, though reports indicate that the 3.5-liter V6 petrol will be ditched in favor of a turbocharged 3.0-liter unit. Mercedes is reported to introduce their 9-speed automatic transmission on the 2WD variants of the sedan as well.
