Leaked press images of the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C Class have already found their way on the internet. According to our friends at MBPassion, Mercedes will make the new C Class official on the 16th of this month, following which, the car will be shown at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2014.
Further, the new C Class will be available initially with a choice of three engine options and eleven exterior colors. The engine lineup will comprise of a single diesel motor and two petrol engines. The C220 BlueTEC diesel will output nearly the same 170 hp as the current model, while the petrol motors will output 156 hp (C180) and 184 hp (C200).
The new C Class will be based on the MRA (Mercedes Rear wheel drive Architecture) platform and will use an Aluminium hybrid construction that sees 39% of its body shell being made out of Aluminium. Hence, overall weight of the sedan is expected to go down by nearly 100 kg.
Mercedes already revealed the interiors and some of the features of the car. The new C Class gets a fingertip operated (gesture based) touchpad, an intelligent aircon system which uses GPS and deactivates the recirculation system when the car is entering a tunnel, a head up display, cruise control with stop & go pilot and a 360-degree camera which detects vehicles, pedestrians and other obstacles.
