Chevrolet has revealed the Chevrolet Trax for the US market for the first time at the 2014 New York Auto Show.
Virtually identical to the Trax sold across the pond in Europe, the American variant wears the same dual-port grille and swept back headlamps. GM have adorned the body with extra plastic cladding with 16-inch and 18-inch wheel options.
The interior is familiar with a motorcycle-inspired instrument cluster, metallic inserts and Chevy's MyLink infotainment program that displays data on a 7-inch screen. Interior colour options include Jet Black, Jet Black/Light Titanium and Jet Black/Brownstone.
The boot capacity is rated at 530 liters which is expandable to 1,371 liters when the rear seat folds down. The car gets 10 airbags as standard, 10 colors options, keyless entry, remote start and comes in LS, LT and LTZ variants.
Detailed specifications were announced (more details in the press release), with Chevy saying that the car is getting a 1.4-liter turbocharged EcoTec engine producing 138 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. The engine pairs to a 6-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system.
The Chevrolet Trax will be sold in the US starting early next year and compete against the Kia Soul and the Nissan Juke.
