The Ducati Scrambler which made its global premiere at the INTERMOT 2014 in Cologne, Germany, in September has been showcased at the Thailand International Motor Expo 2014. The motorcycle will be made at Ducati's Thai factory for global consumption.
The Audi-owned Italian sportsbike maker insists that the Scrambler doesn't adopt a retro design and the original Scrambler would look like this had the company not stopped its production decades ago. Targeted at "non-conformists", the Scrambler sports a classic design which is nothing like its stablemates.
Design highlights include minimalistic body work, circular headlamp with LED outline, floating seat, eccentric instrument dial and single-sided rear mud guard.
The frame is a twin-spar steel trellis structure which is suspended by Kayaba inverted telescopic fork (front) and an offset monoshock (rear). Brembo brakes with two-channel ABS comes as standard while the wheels are wrapped in enduro-derived Pirelli tyres.
The 803 cc Testastratta L-twin motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a slipper clutch to produce 75 PS (73.94 bhp) and 67.7 Nm of torque. The motorcycle weighs 170 kg.
The Ducati Scrambler is expected to mark the brand's re-entry into the Indian market sometime in the first half of 2015.
