This may not sound like a large number, especially when considering that Honda Cars India sold over 7,200 units of the City in May 2014 alone. However, it needs to be taken into account that the Philippines auto market sees as much sales as the Maruti Alto in India. For May 2014, a total of 22,815 units of new cars and commercial vehicles were sold in Philippines, and this was a growth of 23.5 percent compared to May 2013.

Toyota, which holds the first spot with a market share of 40 percent, sold 9,132 vehicles last month, while Honda, which ranks sixth in terms of sales, sold 934 units last month. When these numbers are taken into account, the interest recorded for the new City is very good.

The City in Philippines is sold with the 1.5-liter i-VTEC petrol engine producing 120 PS and 14.8 kgm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a CVT, similar to the Indian model.

All variants of the City in Philippines are equipped with dual front airbags, ABS and EBD. The top-end variant gets further safety features such as side airbags, curtain airbags, VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) and Hill Hold. The car is imported from Thailand.
