Skoda's budget sedan, the Rapid, will get a makeover, joining the Octavia and the Superb in following Skoda's new global design language.
This full-fledged facelift is expected to be launched towards the end of this year, says a ZigWheels report. The car will retain everything currently available on the inside as well as its mechanical bits. The facelift will give the Rapid fresh headlamps, tail lights, indicators, fog lamps and an entirely new grille that follows Skoda's global design language.
The facelifted Rapid will come with the same 1.6-diesel and 1.6-petrol engines, both producing 105PS of max power. Both engines will be mated to 5-speed manual gearboxes.
The report also speculates that the Rapid will get a new automatic variant. The current Rapid automatic gets the same 1.6-liter engine as the manual variant, but the report says that the Rapid facelift will get a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine, a la VW Vento TSI, mated to the same 7-speed dual clutch gearbox as in the Vento.
