GM India has announced through its Facebook page that the 2014 Chevy Camaro ZL1 will be in attendance at the Auto Expo which kickstarts on February 5th. Apart from the Camaro, the 2014 Corvette will also mark its presence at the Expo.
This will not be the first time GM India is showing its parent company's high-performance vehicles at the Expo. At the previous edition of the Auto Expo in 2012, the older Camaro SS was displayed and company officials were positive on launching these high-end vehicles as niche products and brand builders. However, there have been no signs of it happening with the company focussing only on bread-and-butter models such as the Sail twins and Enjoy.
The ZL1 is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged "small-block" V8 engine which outputs 580 hp at 6,000 rpm and 753 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. This power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission enabling the ZL1 to accelerate from 0-96 km/h in 3.9 seconds and achieve a top-speed of 296 km/h.
The muscle car uses the modern Magnetic Suspension system which firms up (or softens) the ride in a matter of milliseconds. Stopping power is provided by 6-piston Brembos at the front and 4-piston calipers at the rear.
In the U.S., the ZL1 is priced from USD 55,055 (INR 34.5 lakhs).
