Ford of Europe held a press conference in Barcelona, Spain, yesterday called the 'Go Further' event. The conference saw the world premiere of the 2015 Mustang and the European premieres of the new Ka Concept and Edge concept.
The new Ka Concept was revealed in Brazil on November 13th and previews the next generation Ka hatchback, which would also materialize into a Figo successor (or it would be positioned above the Figo in the Indian market).
Production of the new Ka will first commence in Brazil in early 2014. For Europe, Ford confirms that it would take a "couple of years" before the car is launched. Do they plan to source it from either Chennai or Sanand soon after its production launches here?
Ford has not divulged the technical aspects of the new Ka Concept. The Blue Oval says that the hatchback will have class-leading fuel economy, a spacious interior with seating for five, best-in-class air conditioning, a central docking station for mobile devices and Ford’s SYNC multimedia system with AppLink.
After going through this press release, we learn that the docking station would be called MyFord Dock, and would allow the Ka's occupants to store, mount and charge mobile devices.
It has been previously reported that the Ka would be offered with two engine choices in Brazil - a four-cylinder 1.5-liter unit (which we get on the Fiesta) producing 111 bhp and a 1.0-liter three-cylinder, turbocharged, EcoBoost engine.
The Ka Concept is the second vehicle to have been developed by Ford Brazil, the first being the EcoSport, which is due to commence European deliveries next year.

Ford says that it has sold more than 1.8 million units of the Ka since the vehicle was first launched in 1996. Being tailor-made to European tastes, Ford could not offer the Ka in the American market.
