The BMW 3-Series GT follows the footsteps of its bigger brother, sporting a similar design at the rear. Besides the obvious change to the rear, the visual distinction to the normal 3 Series comes from a special spoiler that deploys at 110 kph and folds down below speeds of 70kph.
The 3 Series GT is largest of the 3 Series variants being 200mm longer and 81mm taller than the 3 Series Touring (Estate). There's 70mm of additional room for rear seat passengers. The boot space is 1,600 liters when the seats are folded down and 520 liters when the seats are left undisturbed. Front and rear passengers have their seats raised by 59mm.
The rear seat is a 40:20:40 split/folding bench with folding head restraints and tilt-adjustable backrests.
The BMW 3 Series GT gets suspension systems built using light-alloy components, a torque steer-free Electric Power Steering and a 50:50 axle load distribution.
A longer wheelbase (+ 110 mm) and bigger wheel diameter (17 inch wheels even on the base model) is provided to offer the best directional stability and long-distance comfort.
The US Spec 3 Series GT will be available with two engine options. The 2.0 litre 240 bhp turbo petrol engine powers the 328i GT while the top of the line 335i GT is powered by a 300 hp 3.0 litre V6 turbo petrol motor.
