The Polo GTI is offered in European markets with a 6MT or 7DSG.
According to a report on Autocar India, the VW Polo GTI will be displayed at the Auto Expo 2016, which will take place at the India Expo Mart in the first week of February 2016. VW India could take a call on launching the model based on feedback it receives from visitors to India's biennial auto show.
The Polo GTI (facelifted model) made its debut at the Paris Motor Show 2014. Cosmetic changes on the GTI, in comparison to a regular Polo, include LED headlights, a new honeycomb grille structure with the 'GTI' logo, sportier front and rear bumpers, larger alloy wheels, dual exhausts and subtle side skirts.
Inside, the Polo GTI benefits from the classic 'tartan' seat fabric observed on the Golf GTI, a sportier flat-bottomed steering wheel, contrast stitching and aluminium pedals. However, the most important change lies under the hood as the GTI is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder TSI engine developing 192 PS and 320 Nm of torque.
The front wheels are driven via a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG gearbox, and in the numbers game, the Polo GTI hits 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds with a top-speed of 236 km/h. It also gets an optional sports select suspension system, allowing the driver to choose between Comfort or Sport-oriented suspension settings.

The Polo GTI, if launched in India, will compete with the Fiat Abarth Puno, which was launched this year at INR 9.95 lakhs, ex-Showroom. Reports say that VW could choose the CKD route for the Polo GTI.
