The Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo that was showcased to dealers in India in July will be launched on 12 September 2019. Its brochure has leaked online, revealing all the exclusive features it will offer.
The Toyota Fortuner is already a very strong-selling SUV which garners an average monthly sales of about 1,500 units. Now, with the sportier TRD Sportivo variant, the company hopes to rope in even more customers and thus boost sales.
The new Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo gets bright-red 'TRD' badging on either end, 18-inch TRD Sportivo design alloy wheels, blacked-out pillars, skid plates and dual-tone colour scheme. Like previously launched TRD Sportivo variant in India in 2017, this one too doesn't look as rugged or as sporty as the same variant sold in other markets like Indonesia, Thailand or Oman.
The cabin looks quite similar to that of the new Indonesian-spec TRD Sportivo variant that was showcased at GIIAS 2019 in July. It will have a dual-tone Black and Maroon colour theme which will be prominent on the dashboard, door panels and the seats. It will also have red stitch accents on the upholstery to complement the sporty exterior.
8-way adjustable seats, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, 11-speaker audio system by JBL, red engine start-stop button with TRD branding, carbon-kevlar trim on the gear knob and steering wheel, rear-view camera and power tailgate will be among the main features of the new Indian-spec Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo.
Under the hood, there will be the 2.8-litre diesel engine which delivers 174 PS and 450 Nm. The engine will only be available with a 6-speed automatic, and the manual will be given a miss. It is said to also miss out on the optional 4×4 drive system as well.
The 2019 Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo will be launched in a dual tone colour option of Dual Tone Black Roof with Pearl White Colour.
