Tata Motors launched the Tata Tiago NRG, the 'cross' variant on the Tiago, at INR 5.49 lakhs for petrol and INR 6.31 lakhs for the diesel variant, ex-Showroom. Below are detailed images of the Maruti Celerio X rival.
Speaking at its launch, Mayank Pareek, President of Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors, said that the Tiago NRG is a "very youthful" product, and that extensive customer feedback was considered in its development. "Customers asked for a small car which gives them feeling of sitting high, a superior infotainment system, and safety feeling should be high also", Pareek said when quizzed about the need for the Tiago NRG.
Compared to the Tiago, the NRG features a 10 mm increase to its ground clearance taking the number to 180 mm, faux silver skid plates, black body cladding, roof rails, a tailgate finisher and 14 inch dual tone alloy wheels.
Inside, the Tiago NRG gets an all-black dashboard with contrasting orange highlights. Based on the top end XZ variant of the Tiago, the Tiago NRG sports a 5 inch touchscreen entertainment system with integrated display for the reverse camera, "denim" inspired fabric upholstery with orange stitching and an 8 speaker Harman sound system. On the safety front, dual front airbags and ABS are standard on the Tiago NRG.

Compared to the Tiago XZ, the NRG is around INR 22,000 more expensive for the petrol and INR 26,000 more than the Tiago XZ diesel. According to Pareek, Tata will not introduce an AMT variant on the Tiago NRG as the "price becomes too high".
