Tata Super Ace is a mini-truck developed and sold by Tata Motors. It is one of the three members of the Ace series provided by Tata. Tata Super Ace is now exported to other markets overseas as well.
The Super Ace is an India-made one-tonne mini-truck that took off in 2009 in the domestic market and the international market. It is based on the highly successful mini-truck of Tata Motors, the Tata Ace.
After the launch of the Tata Ace, the new segment for minitruck in India was created, attracting many three-wheel owners that wanted to upgrade to a four-wheeler. This highly successful truck is the firstborn model of the Ace series. After the Super Ace, Tata Motors has launched other successors of this truck – Super Ace and Ace Zip. In addition, the home-grown car manufacturer also introduced a passenger variant of the Ace and Zip, which is called the Magic. While it is still on sale in several markets across the globe, the Super Ace was discontinued in our market in 2019. However, the production of this truck is still going on at Tata’s Pantnagar plant.
This mini-truck is 4340 mm in length. The width and height measure at 1565 m and 1858 mm, respectively. It runs on a wheelbase of 2380 mm. The maximum loading capacity is 1000 kg.
In the international market, the Super Ace receives power from a 1,396 cc engine that produces a top power of 69 BHP at 4,000 rmp and a maximum torque of 140 Nm at 1,800-3,000 rpm. With this engine, the Super Ace can reach the top speed of 125 kmph.
Tata Super Ace claims an ARAI mileage of 17.9 kmpl while in real life, the mileage is believed to range from around 13 kmpl to 15 kmpl.
Inside the cabin, there are two seats for the driver and the co-driver passenger. It gets an air conditioner as standard, reclinable seats with adjustable headrests, power window, 12V power socket, remote central locking, and more. In terms of safety features, Tata Super Ace is equipped with a collapsible steering column, ORVM for three-lane visibility, load-conscious reducing valve, side-impact beams, semi-monocoque platform with multiple crumple zones.
