The Tata Hexa premiered at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

Yesterday Tata Motors introduced the Tata Hexa at an introductory price of INR 11.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is the second product in the line-up with the Impact design philosophy, the first being the Tiago. Bookings for the Tata Hexa has been open for a few weeks, and the Aria-based crossover is available in three trims, XE, XM and XT.

The Tata Hexa is the new flagship offering by Tata Motors and will compete with the Mahindra XUV500 and the Toyota Innova Crysta.

Powering the Tata Hexa is the 2.2-litre VARICOR diesel mill seen in the Tata Safari. The base Hexa XE trim gets the VARICOR 320 option which is capable of producing 150 PS of maximum power at 4,000 rpm and 320 Nm of peak torque in the range of 1,700 to 2,700 rpm, paired with a 5-speed manual unit.

The Tata Hexa XM and XT get the VARICOR 400 version of this BSIV compliant mill. Coupled to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic unit, the engine is capable of producing 156 PS of power at 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm of peak torque at 1,700 to 2,700 rpm. The XT trim also gets optional AWD and can also be bought as a six seater with captain seats in the 2nd row.

Being the flagship product, the Tata Hexa gets smoked projector automatic headlamps, DRLs, sculpted seats, ambient mood lighting (8 colours), 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system by Harman with a ten speaker 320-watt audio system by JBL. The Tata Hexa also gets automatic climate control, rain sensing wipers, electronically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, cruise control and a cooled glove box.

Safety features include dual front airbags and ABS with EBD as standard. The top end trim gets side and curtain airbags and ESP. The Tata Hexa also gets traction control; hill hold control, hill descent control, hydraulic brake assist and corner stability control along with four driving modes (Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road).

The Tata Hexa will be available in five colours - Arizona Blue, Tungsten Silver, Pearl White, Sky Grey and Platinum Silver.
