Tata Motors' commercial division has launched a new variant of the highly successful Tata Ace in Mumbai today. Dubbed as the Tata Ace Mega, it is priced at INR 4.35 Lakhs (ex-showroom Thane), and slots between the Tata Ace HT and Tata Super Ace. The Tata Ace Mega is 10-11% more costlier than the entry-level Tata Ace HT.
It is powered by the 4th generation 2-cylinder 800 cc DiCOR diesel engine producing a power output of 40 hp. It is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, and can enable the Tata Ace Mega to hit a best-in class top speed of 90 km/h. As for fuel efficiency, it is capable of returning an ARAI-certified fuel mileage of 18.5 km/L.
The Tata Ace Mega comes with a rated payload of 1 ton, courtesy of a re-inforced load body. It rides on wheels with 14 inch tires, has a high ground clearance of 175 mm and gradeability of 30%.
Exterior features include a body colored front bumper, new front protective wheel arch eyebrows, new sporty body graphics, wide angle ORVM, extended wheel arch, body graphics and wide ORVMs. Inside, it comes with a lockable glovebox, provision for a music system, mobile charging facility, digital clock and full fabric seat upholstery.
