Offered with 1.6-liter petrol and diesel engines.
Suzuki has launched the Vitara SUV in the United Kingdom with prices starting from 13,999 GBP (INR 13.44 lakhs) and extending to 21,299 GBP (INR 21.11 lakhs). Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October last year, the Vitara can be had with 1.6-liter petrol or diesel engines.
The 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol makes 120 hp and 156 Nm of torque, while the diesel produces 120 hp and 320 Nm of torque. These engines can be paired to a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission in case of the petrol and a 6-speed manual for the diesel, with a standard front wheel drive or an optional all-wheel drive.
Even the base variant of the Vitara gets features like seven airbags, 16-inch alloys, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, projector headlamps and automatic AC. Top-end variants are equipped with keyless entry with an engine starter button, suede seat fabrics, a panoramic sunroof, radar-based brake system, adaptive cruise control, LED projector headlights and 17-inch alloy wheels.
At the moment, Maruti is focussing on entering the crossover segment with the SX4 S-Cross (due to launch in May this year), and the compact SUV segment in early-2016. Post the launch of these models, the car maker may consider the Vitara for the Indian market in a bid to increase its portfolio.
