Ssangyong has revealed design sketches of the Ssangyong SIV-2 concept, which will make its debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. It is an evolution of the Ssangyong SIV-1 concept revealed almost three years ago at the same venue.
The exterior will draw influence from the “Robust, Speciality, Premium” design language and will become a key model in SsangYong’s product range. The company boasts of lightweight construction a low center of gravity, while the platform can support a range of powertrains, including hybrids and pure electric motors.
The powertrain in the SIV-2 comprises of a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired to an electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery pack. According to Ssangyong, the 48V mild-hybrid offers “quiet and efficient driving, reduced CO2 emissions and silent running when idling and at slow speeds.”
