Dodge's pick up truck division, RAM, has announced the RAM 1200 pick up for the Middle East. The American manufacturer confirmed that the new entry-level model will go on sale next year at a private event yesterday.
Like the Fiat Fullback also sold in the Middle East, the RAM 1200 is a rebadged Mitsubishi Triton/L200. Customers can choose between single cab and double cab bodystyles, which measure 5,245 mm and 5,370 mm long, respectively. Both variants are 1,775 mm tall, 1,785 mm wide and have a 3,000 mm wheelbase.
The RAM 1200 offers a maximum payload capacity of 1,165 kg (2,568 lbs) and is capable of towing up to 3 metric tons (6,614 lbs). There are two engines available: a 2.5L four cylinder turbodiesel diesel with 126 hp or 134 hp, and a 2.4L four cylinder petrol with 130 hp. Both units are equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while an automatic transmission is optional. Also optional is a 4x4 drivetrain with three driving modes.
Prices for the RAM 1200 in the Middle East will be announced closer to its launch. In the UAE, it will be sold through RAM's authorized distributors, Trading Enterprises.
