Will be based on a FWD platform.
Speaking to Car and Driver, Lincoln brand marketing manager Imran Jalal has confirmed that the flagship Lincoln Continental will make its debut at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show (2016 NAIAS).
The Lincoln Continental will debut the company's latest design language that will influence all future Lincolns. The exterior was previewed by the Lincoln Continental Concept at the 2015 New York Auto Show, featuring a Bentley Flying Spur-esque design.
It's unclear as to which engines will be offered in the Continental. Likely candidates include a new 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine or a larger 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine delivering more than 400 hp. Also on the cards is a 9-speed automatic gearbox, and an optional AWD system.
As for future naming nomenclature, Mr Jalal has confirmed that the company will stick to the MK- naming for now, with the only exceptions being the Continental and Navigator.
