Team-BHP member 'soumobakshi' has shared images of the recently revealed Indian-spec Nissan Kicks parked in an office complex. As was the case with the display model of the Indian-spec SUV, these units feature pitch black tints, which refrained the photographer from having a glance at the interior.

The Nissan Kicks will have a crucial role in its company's plans of achieving a 5% market share by 2022.

The Indian-spec Nissan Kicks is underpinned by Dacia's B0/Logan platform. The new model shares its architecture with the Nissan Terrano/Renault Duster. The international version, on the other hand, is based on the V (Versatile) platform that was first introduced in 2010 in the Nissan Micra. The dual-platform strategy by the Renault-Nissan alliance was last observed with the Renault Captur.

The Indian Nissan Kicks is significantly larger than its international iteration. The SUV for India measures 4,384 mm in length, 1,813 mm in width and 1,656 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,673 mm. In comparison, the global model is 4,295 mm long, 1,760 mm wide, and 1,590 tall with a wheelbase of 2,610 mm.

The new model will be available in dual-tone paint schemes and feature 17-inch dual-tone machined alloy wheels shod with 215/60-spec rubber. The Nissan Kicks for India features a new V-motion grille and an updated bumper with lower-set fog lamps and a faux skid plate. This, along with the increment in the dimensions, help the new model establish a distinct identity.

While the company is yet to reveal the interior, we expect its design to mirror that of the global version to a large extent. The new model should feature a similar soft-touch dashboard with 'Gliding Wing' design. Important highlights of the cabin should include a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with smartphone connectivity support, a semi-digital instrument console with a seven-inch driver information display, and a flat-bottom steering wheel. The vehicle will also offer the segment-first Around-View monitor.

The Kicks is likely to go on sale with two engine options that will be shared with the Renault Duster - 1.5-litre H4K petrol and 1.5-litre K9K diesel. The petrol engine outputs 106 PS at 5,600 rpm and 142 Nm, while the oil-burner should be available in the more powerful state-of-tune with 110 PS and 245 Nm on offer.

Thanks to larger dimensions, the local Nissan Kicks will not only offer more interior room but will also enjoy higher street presence than its international sibling.

The interior and the specifications of the locally made Nissan Kicks will be revealed to media in the first half of December. The new model will launch in January 2019 and is expected to have a base price of INR 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom), squarely targeting the Hyundai Creta.
