The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport was launched in India early last year as a CBU and its local assembly began a few months into its launch at HM's Tiruvallur plant near Chennai. To celebrate the first anniversary of the Pajero Sport's launch, the Japanese car maker, who has ditched sedans and compact cars to divert all energies into SUVs, had announced an anniversary edition model in the third week of July.
This week, Mitsubishi conducted the car's launch in Chennai which gave us the opportunity to view the car in person.
To recap, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Anniversary Edition is installed with a cluster of accessories such as a Bluetooth-compatible touch screen multimedia infotainment system with GPS navigation, rear view camera, roof spoiler, body colored front bumper and fog lamp bezel, and an Anniversary Edition emblem on the vehicle's rear.
The Pajero Sport Anniversary Edition also comes with Mitsubishi's renowned super select 4WD system which gives the driver the option to switch into 4×2 mode to improve the fuel economy or into three different 4×4 settings depending on the terrain.
There are no changes whatsoever to the mechanical carriage with the same 2.5 litre diesel engine that's capable of delivering maximum power and torque of 178 bhp and 400 Nm respectively. The car is driven via a 5-speed manual transmission.
Mitsubishi has priced the anniversary edition Pajero Sport at INR 28,39,843 (ex-showroom Chennai) and is available in five colors - Earth Brown, Himalayan White, Iceberg Silver, Pure Black and Storm Grey.
