The Mitsubishi Expander, conforming to the industry trend, has an SUV-like design. It evolves from the Mitsubishi XM concept and features the brand's "Dynamic Shield" face with the headlamps and the grille layout forming an X shape design. The Toyota Sienta looks like a proper MPV, and it has a design unique to itself. It looks more funky and youthful, as opposed to the Mitsubishi Expander which has a rather bold and serious appearance.
The Mitsubishi Expander measures 4,475 mm in length, 1,750 mm in width and 1,700 mm in height. It offers a ground clearance of 205 mm. The Toyota Sienta is 4,235 mm long, 1,695 mm wide and 1,695 mm tall. With a ground clearance of 170 mm, it rides lower like a sedan. The Mitsubishi offering has a much bigger overall footprint, which should translate to a roomier cabin. The higher ground clearance gives it an advantage on rough roads.

Transmission choices include 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic.
