Over 10,000 units of the MG Hector that was launched in India today have already been booked, reports PTI. The new C-SUV has been attractively priced from INR 12.18 lakh* and its deliveries will commence in the first week of July.
MG Motor India has set an annual sales target of 18,000 units for the first year. Commenting on the Hector's launch today, MG Motor India President and Managing Director Rajeev Chaba, said: "We have had a good response to the Hector going by the bookings with customers not even knowing the price."
MG Motor India has previously hinted that it is in a for a long game and hence is establishing itself according. The company has already poured in an investment of INR 2,200 crore in order to set up its business in the country, which includes setting up dealerships and the manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat. It plans to ramp up this number to INR 5,000 crore, within the next four years for its business expansion in India.
The company has already finalised 50 dealer principles in India and will start operating with 120 customer touch-points, which will include retail outlets, experience centres and service stations. It plans to ramp up the number of touch-points to 250 within the next three months.
The MG Hector comes in a total of two petrol-MT configurations, two petrol-AT configurations, four diesel-MT configurations and three petrol-electric-MT configurations. Under the hood, it has either a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol unit w/o 48-volt mild-hybrid tech or a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel unit. The petrol engine develops 143 PS and 250 Nm of torque, while the diesel engine develops 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Customers can select between a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. An AWD system isn't available.

After the Hector, MG Motor India will launch the eZS (electric-SUV), towards the end of the year. Already spied a few times now, the eZS will be initially launched in five major Indian cities, namely Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.
