IAB reader Akula Vijay has spotted a blue-coloured Toyota Glanza at a dealership yard ahead of the launch on the 6th of this month. In April, 364 units of the upcoming hatchback were shipped to dealerships. With the launch nearing, in May, 2,302 more units were dispatched.

The Toyota Glanza is differentiated from the Maruti Baleno with only a unique radiator grille comprising two horizontal slats.

The Glanza from Toyota Kirloskar Motor is nothing but a rebranded Baleno from Maruti Suzuki, and the first product out of the strategic partnership between Toyota and Suzuki. A recently leaked ARAI document confirms that the Toyota Glanza will be available with Maruti Suzuki’s 1.2L VVT naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 61 kW (82.94 PS) at 6,000 rpm (and 113 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm). This engine will return a fuel economy of 19.56 km/l (CVT)/21.01 km/l (5-speed MT) and be available in G and V grades.

The donor car's 1.2L Dual Jet Dual VVT four-cylinder petrol engine (89.74PS at 6,000 rpm/113Nm at 4,400 rpm) featuring a dual-battery mild-hybrid system will also be available. It will be linked to a 5-speed MT and will deliver 23.87 km/l. It will be available in only the G grade.

The Toyota Glanza will be equipped with standard features like automatic climate control, height-adjustable driver seat, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation and voice command functionality, dual airbags, 16-inch precision-cut dual-tone alloy wheels, steering-mounted audio controls and push-button start as standard. Its higher V-trim will have additional features like UV-cut glass, LED DRLs and auto On/Off and follow-me functions for the headlights, different LED treatment for the tail-lamps, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a reverse camera.

The Toyota Glanza's prices may start at over INR 7 lakh (ex-showroom), and its competition will be the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and the upcoming Tata Altroz. As opposed to the Maruti Baleno's 2-year/40,000 km standard warranty, the Toyota Glanza will come with 3-year/1,00,000 km standard warranty.
