The group plans on introducing new brands in India.
Following the exit of Nagesh Basavanhalli, formerly the president and managing director of Fiat Chrysler India, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has announced the appointment of Kevin Flynn as his replacement. Flynn takes the post with immediate effect.
Flynn will be responsible for the Fiat brand and other subsequent brands that will be introduced in the country, like Abarth and Jeep. He is a veteran with 30 years experience in the auto industry, and previously served as Managing Director for South Africa, sub-Sahara regions for Jaguar Land Rover.
For 2015, the company plans on introducing the performance oriented Abarth brand, and the iconic American SUV brand, Jeep, in the country. These brands were supposed to launch last year, but the company cited poor exchange rates as a reason for delaying them.
The Fiat brand sells the Punto Evo, Avventura, Linea Classic and new Linea in India. Sales of Fiat India still continue to hover in three digits. The brand sold 803 cars in December 2014 and 760 cars in November 2014.
