Isuzu today unveiled the D-MAX Space Cab calling it India's first Multi-Utility pickup. The D-MAX Space Cab features a specially built cabin space of 1.5 feet behind the driver's seat and is targeted at the owner driven customer.
At the launch, Isuzu India's president and MD, Takashi Kikuchi, said that the company estimates India to be the world's largest 1 tonne pickup truck market in the world by owner driven customers. The pickup truck segment is one of the largest and fastest growing segments in India, accounting to 35 percent of the CV market in India.
The D-MAX Space Cab will be powered by a 134 hp 2.5-liter diesel engine, with features like air conditioning and power windows. The D-MAX range of pickup trucks will be assembled at the Hindustan Motors Chennai car plant where Isuzu Motors also assembles its MU-7 SUV. The D-MAX Space Cab, the company says, will soon be launched in India.
