The Ford Tourneo Courier makes its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show and alongside, its family members the Tourneo Connect and the Tourneo Custom make their European debut.
The Ford Tourneo Courier is the smallest of the lot and brings Ford's people mover brand into the small car segment. Ford says that the Tourneo Courier offers "class-leading space, practicality, fuel economy and safety features."
The Tourneo Connect is a slightly bigger and beefed version and is offered in both five-seater and seven-seater genre. While the Tourneo Custom is a nine-seat version and is the first car in its segment to achieve Euro NCAP five-star safety rating.
The novel Tourneo Courier is based on Ford’s latest global small-car platform, shared with the Fiesta and B-MAX. Some of the prominent features include the part-leather seats, twin rear sliding doors, Ford SYNC with Emergency Assistance, Ford SYNC AppLink, Rear View Camera, and side thorax, knee and curtain airbags. One can choose between the 1.5-litre (75 PS) and 1.6-litre (95 PS) Duratorq TDCi diesels, and the most gossiped 100 PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine.
The Tourneo Connect, on the other hand, is the first in its class to offer Active City Stop, and includes others features of the Courier too. The sliding rear doors, highly flexible seating and a host of smart stowage areas inside the cabin score high in terms of practicality for active families.
Ford ECOnetic Technology features Auto-Start-Stop and an Active Grille Shutter system to reduce drag. The Connect gets 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel in 3 states of tune - 75, 95 and 115 PS, and the 100 PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine is also on offer. In addition, the 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission is available in the Connect too.
Unveiled last year, the Tourneo Custom uses a comprehensive range of Ford’s latest vehicle technologies and features. Ford’s 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine with three power ratings are available for this 8 or 9 seater MPV - 100PS, 125PS and 155PS.
The Tourneo family of people movers will be going on sale in Europe by mid-2014.
