And finally, Ford dealerships across the country have started taking bookings for the much awaited Ford EcoSport.
The prospective customers, many of who are readers, report receiving text messages from their local Ford dealer, alerting about the commencement of bookings. We have learnt that the official bookings for the compact crossover SUV has begun yesterday across the nation though Ford India has not issued a press release.
Dealers said the launch would happen in 10-12 days (Ford India had announced that it would be in June) and it appears that every dealer is allocated 250 cars, every month. We have also learnt that the proportion of the 1.0L EcoBoost variant in the production mix is limited. Among the many dealers we called up, some said at you'd have to wait at least 90 days before you could drive your Ecoboost variant home, and that only if you book today!
The booking amount is Rs. 50,000 after paying which Ford India will provide the customer with an official serial number and the deliveries will be made according to it. This way, dealerships have no role to play in deciding the ordinal numbers of the bookings.
A handful of dealerships say that the minimum waiting period for the EcoSport (diesel is likely to be having the least waiting period) will be one month and could stretch as long as three months depending on the variant.
