As Europe is battling to reduce CO2 emissions, supercars like the Bugatti Veyron could run head-on into trouble! New laws which will come into effect in 2014, demand rolling resistance of tires to be under 10.5kg per tonne. This means cars which have ultra-wide high performance tires are likely banned from plying roads from 2014 onwards.
Wider tires increase road grip and promotes handling, but have a dreadful impact on fuel economy as the contact surface between the tire and the road is more and the rolling resistance is increased.
But EU is sure that technology can save the day and put these cars back on the road. Cars like Lamborghini Murcielago and Ferrari Enzo also fail to meet EU's demand presently.
