Arrives in Brazilian dealerships by the end of this month.
Chevrolet premiered the new Spin Activ crossover at the 2014 Sao Paulo International Motor Show last month. Based on the Spin MPV, the Activ adds new design elements like a larger front bumper with skid guards, 16-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, side cladding and an exposed spare wheel.
Compared to the regular model, the Spin Activ gets 8 mm of increased ground clearance, mainly thanks to the new 205/60 wheels. As a result of the external spare wheel, boot space has improved to 710 liters (with the last row of seats folded) with storage compartments below the floor.
Inside, designers have given the car new seat trims and most importantly, a new 7-inch touchscreen multimedia system called MyLink. It comes with Bluetooth and allows users to view videos and photos by pairing their smartphones.
The new Spin Activ, which will reach dealerships in Brazil by the end of this month, will be powered by a 1.8-liter EconoFlex engine capable of 108 bhp and 171 Nm of torque. GM has given the car an improved 6-speed automatic transmission which promises 50 percent faster shifts.
Finally, Chevrolet says that it has given the Spin Activ a new suspension calibration to support the additional weight.
