General Motors has announced that it will debut the Chevrolet Beat facelift and "A new concept vehicle" at the upcoming Auto Expo 2014 which will takes place at Greater Noida from February 5th.
This concept vehicle, which will have its global debut, is most likely the Chevrolet Adra compact SUV. The Adra would be a sub-4 meter SUV that will take on the likes of the Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster in India. When introduced, the Adra will most likely be the first real competitor for the Ford EcoSport in India, ticking all boxes like sub-4meter length and advanced features.
The Adra concept is based on GM's Gamma 2 platform. The Adra is likely to be powered by the same 1.3-liter diesel engine that powers the Sail and the Enjoy, producing 77 hp.
At present, the smallest SUV in GM's arsenal is the Trax. However, measuring 4.2 meters in length, the Trax is well off the 4-meter mark it needs to duck under, in order to enjoy significant cuts in excise duty.
Apart from the Adra, Chevrolet will showcase a long overdue facelift for the Beat hatchback.
