Skoda Kodiaq, the flagship SUV from the Czech manufacturer was originally introduced to the world almost 3 years back and is due for a mid-cycle makeover. Based on the latest sightings, IAB's digital artist, Shoeb Kalania has come up with a rendering which highlights all the exterior updates it may carry over the current model.
The majority of the exterior changes in the 2020 Skoda Kodiaq (facelift) will only be restricted to its front and rear sections. As clear from the picture above, the SUV will feature a redesigned front bumper. Also, a slightly tweaked headlight design is expected to give the front a fresh appeal. On the other hand, Skoda's signature grille will be carried over to the Kodiaq facelift. Like the updated Skoda Superb, Kodiaq, too, will most probably receive the matrix LED headlights, which have become a fast-emerging trend in the VAG models.
Other than this, the side profile will most likely have only minor updates, if at all any. The 2020 Kodiaq retains its body lines, and sides will continue to feature flared wheel arches and an aggressive shoulder line which stretches across the profile. That said, the lower body will carry a new plastic cladding. The rear will be slightly tweaked and will be given a redesigned bumper and lighting elements.
In terms of mechanicals, expect the 2020 Skoda Kodiaq (facelift) to come with an updated 2.0-litre Evo diesel engine which is available in various states of tune, ranging from 136 PS up to 204 PS. That said, the most prominent mechanical update will be brought in the form of a PHEV setup. A similar setup on the latest Superb features a 156PS 1.4-liter TSI 4-cylinder engine that comes mated to a 6-speed DSG and a 13-kWh electric motor that churns out 115PS. The combined power output is pegged at 218 PS.
