Ford will reportedly unveil the Ecosport successor for the global market at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. Expected to be called the 'Puma', the new model is reported as being based on the pared-down 'C2' platform of the Ford Focus. Meanwhile, in India, Ford will develop a new B-SUV with its local strategic partner Mahindra to replace its ageing compact SUV. IAB’s digital illustrator Shoeb Kalania has visualised the design of the new model in his latest rendering based on global Fords.
As portrayed in our rendering and from the spy images, the next-gen EcoSport for the international market would look a tad softer than the current version. The India-spec 2020 Ford EcoSport, however, will feature a robust design to suit the taste buds of the Indian audience.
While the global model will ride on the company's 'C' platform, the EcoSport-successor in India could be loosely connected to the X100 architecture, if not on a completely new platform tailored for next generation Mahindra and Ford B-segment cars that supports electrification. Details on the specifications of the 2020 Ford EcoSport are scarce at the moment. However, Ford will use Mahindra's BS6-ready turbocharged petrol and diesel options on its SUV.
