Hero MotoCorp has paused the sales of its flagship motorcycle, the Karizma ZMR as the product has not seen a single sale since February this year. The Hero Karizma ZMR did not receive the ABS upgrade. However, the Kazima bike has not been discontinued, and the Indian two-wheeler brand is focusing on exports for the Karizma.

Responding to an email from Moneycontrol, Hero MotoCorp stated:

Karizma is not discontinued and continues to be a part of our portfolio. At present, we are focusing on the model in our overseas markets.

The Hero Karizma ZMR is still listed on the company’s India website although, with the absence of ABS, Hero MotoCorp cannot sell the product in our market any more. To give you a recap, the flagship Karizma bike used a 223 cc, air/oil cooled, 4-stroke OHC engine with Fuel Injection technology that produced 20.27 PS at 8,000 rpm and 19.7 Nm at 6,500 rpm.

Meanwhile, Hero MotoCorp has expanded its portfolio in the premium segment with the launch of three 200 cc bikes – the XPulse 200, XPulse 200T and the Xtreme 200S. The Xtreme 200S aims to fill the void that the absence of the Karizma bike has created in Hero MotoCorp’s product portfolio. Priced at INR 98,500 (ex-showroom Delhi), the full-faired motorcycle packs features such as full LED headlamp, full digital display with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.

A report from last month claimed that the Xtreme 200S is in higher demand than the XPulse 200 duo. The newly launched 200 cc trio share the same engine although the XPulse comes with the option of a fuel injection system. The 199.6 cc, oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine produces 18.4 PS of peak power at 8,000 rpm and 17.1 Nm of max torque at 6,500 rpm and employs a five-speed transmission.

The suspension setup on the Xtreme 200S is similar to the Xtreme 200R. Both motorcycles use conventional, 37 mm telescopic fork at the front and a preload adjustable monoshock at the back. Stopping power comes from a 276 mm disc and a 220 mm disc at the front and rear respectively, while a single-channel ABS handles the safety net.
