KTM has unveiled the limited edition variant of its new middleweight adventure tourer, the 790 Adventure R. Christened as the 790 Adventure R Rally, the motorcycle will be limited to just 500 units.

The limited edition, Rally model, is based on the R variant of the 790 Adventure series, and thus you would see a flat-style, single-piece seat, rally style round mirrors and Akrapovic exhaust. The Rally badge brings special livery to the middleweight adventure tourer and the new graphics – white, orange and blue – are visible on the tall-set front fender and the body panels. The panel under the passenger seat features the Adventure R Rally decal.
Apart from the revised paint theme for the body panels, the Rally edition also gets an updated seat colour. Unlike the Adventure R model, the Rally edition gets an orange colour in the top-centre of the seat. The Adventure R variant, for reference, gets orange sides on the saddle.
Besides the changes mentioned above, the limited edition Adventure Rally R carries the same features and mechanical specifications as the Adventure R model. The 799 cc, LC8c, liquid cooled, parallel twin-cylinder engine makes 95 BHP of max power and is paired with a six-speed transmission.
The electronic package on the Adventure R includes ride-by-wire throttle, riding modes, traction control system, switchable ABS and a Rally mode. A Quickshifter+ and cruise control are available as optional extras. The R badge model also gets fully adjustable WP XPLOR 48mm front forks and WP Apex PDS shock absorber at the back.
The KTM 790 Adventure is expected to be introduced in India, although the launch timeline is yet to be officially announced. A report from March this year claimed that the middleweight adventure-tourer might arrive in our country by the end of the year. Being limited to just 500 units, the 790 Adventure R Rally Edition will not make it to the Indian market, although KTM may offer other decals for the motorcycle right from the showroom.

The KTM 790 Adventure and the 790 Adventure R will compete with the likes of Triumph Tiger 800 XC and the BMW F 850 GS range. KTM will import the motorcycles via the CKD route and source certain parts from local vendors to keep the final prices competitive.
