The third-gen Kia Sorento debuted in August 2014 and received a mid-cycle facelift in 2017. Next, the mid-size SUV will undergo a complete generation change by the end of this year. The 2020 Kia Sorento (Codename - MQ4) was recently spotted testing in South Korea.
While the test mule is draped in a dense layer of camouflage, a close inspection reveals the distinctive Tiger Nose upper grille. In all likelihood, the grille of the new model will resemble a fair bit to the one on the Kia Telluride. Moreover, unlike the rounded design of the current model, the next-gen Sorento will feature a more angular silhouette with straight creases.
On the powertrain side, the next-gen Kia Sorento will be sold with a range of options, including internal combustion engines and hybrid powertrains. The latter will be available with solar sunroofs, which will be capable of charging as much as 60% of the battery in a day. Even a fuel cell variant is under consideration, but further details are scarce at the moment.

Kia Motors showcased the current-gen Sorento to potential dealers in India in August 2017. That said, the carmaker has no immediate plans of introducing the mid-size SUV and will instead commence its Indian operations with the launch of the locally manufactured SP2i in the second half of the current calendar year. Following the small SUV, Kia India will reportedly launch the Carnival.
