Honda has launched the highly anticipated 2019 Civic in India. Prices of the all-new Skoda Octavia rival start at INR 17.70 lakh (ex-showroom India).
The 2019 Honda Civic is the tenth generation of the Japanese automaker’s best-selling car worldwide. While the eighth generation model was brought to India without many changes, Honda has paid more attention to the needs and requirements of our market in case of the latest model. Firstly, the company has increased the ground clearance from the global specification (front: +20 mm, rear: +15 mm). Secondly, there’s a diesel engine option, the most fuel efficient one in its segment.
The 2019 Honda Civic is 4,656 mm long, 1,799 mm wide and 1,433 mm high. The C-segment sedan has a 2,700 mm wheelbase and offers 430 litres of boot space. It is available with two engines in India: 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel.
The petrol engine is a naturally aspirated unit producing 141 PS at 6,500 rpm and 174 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. It is paired with a CVT. The diesel engine is a single-turbo unit that develops 120 PS at 4,000 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. It channels power to the wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol engine model has a fuel economy rating of 16.5 km/l, while the diesel engine model returns a best-in-class fuel economy of 26.8 km/l.
On the outside, the 2019 Honda Civic features a LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED fog lights, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and C-shaped LED tail lights. Electric sunroof, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7-inch driver information display, dual-zone automatic climate control, 8-way power driver seat, Ivory leather upholstery and 8 speakers including 4 tweeters are some of the interior highlights.
On the safety front, Honda equips the latest Civic in India with features like electric parking brake with auto brake hold, six airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist, Agile Handle Assist, Hill Start Assist, Honda LaneWatch blind spot display and Walk away Auto Lock. The sedan has scored a 5-star safety rating in ASEAN NCAP.

The 2019 Honda Civic is available V, VX and ZX grades. Platinum White Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic and Golden Brown Metallic are the colour choices. 3 years/unlimited km warranty is standard, while 5 years/unlimited km warranty is optional. A 3-year Annual Maintenace Package is available, with an average cost of INR 4,953 (petrol)/INR 5,930 (diesel).
