Honda has opened pre-launch bookings for the highly anticipated 2019 Civic in India. The company is taking pre-orders for a deposit of INR 31,000.
The 2019 Honda Civic is the tenth generation of the C-segment car, in its facelifted avatar. Key features include LED headlights, C-shaped LED tail lights, remote ignition start, electric sunroof, dual-zone climate control, 7-inch driver information display, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 8-way power driver’s seat.
Honda hasn’t revealed the grade-wise break-up of the new sedan yet, but it has said that while the range-topping grade flaunts 17-inch alloy wheels, the lower grade settles for 16-inch wheels. On the safety front, the company’s global best-seller packs six airbags, Lanewatch, electric parking brake, HSA, stability control and Agile Handling Assist in addition to ABS with EBD and other ordinary features.
Two engine options are available: 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel. The petrol engine is a BSVI-compliant naturally aspirated unit that produces 141 PS at 6,500 rpm and 174 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. It is coupled to a CVT as standard. The diesel engine is a BIV-compliant single-turbo unit that develops 120 PS at 4,000 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard.
The petrol engine model delivers a fuel economy of 16.5 km/l. The diesel engine model’s fuel economy rating is the best in its segment - 26.8 km/l, which is higher than even the Honda City diesel’s 25.6 km/l rating.
