'Autospy' has come up with images of an entry-level variant of the Tata Harrier. While the test mule that has been spotted recently wears a heavy camouflage, the spy shots reveal the steel rims of a smaller size with the Nexon's five-spoke wheel covers. Moreover, what could become the Tata Harrier XE, misses out on the rear washer and wiper system.

The entry-level Tata Harrier is expected to be priced close to the high-end trims of the Hyundai Creta, and is not expected to take the bulk of the bookings.

The most highly anticipated Tata Motors model of present times started life as the H5X concept that made its debut at the Auto Expo 2018.

Underpinning the Tata Harrier is the Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced (OMEGA ARC) platform, which is a pared-down Jaguar Land Rover D8 architecture. Powering the new flagship SUV will be an FCA-sourced 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engine that outputs a maximum power of 140 PS. The motor has been rebranded 'Kryotec.' Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed automatic unit.

The manufacturer is in the process of upgrading 100 dealerships next year to ensure that customers of the new flagship enjoy a better buying experience, and the company will use Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality at shopping malls and other popular places where it promotes the vehicle. The SUV will rival the high-end trims of the Hyundai Creta, along with mid-level versions of the Jeep Compass and the Mahindra XUV500.
