The winning entry, which was from Italdesign Giugiaro, was further improved by Pininfarina.

Underpinning the VinFast LUX SA2.0 is a unique platform developed by Austrian contract manufacturer Magna Steyr. This platform employs a fully independent suspension.

Powering the VinFast LUX SA2.0 is a newly developed 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that develops 227 hp and 350 Nm of torque. The motor comes mated to a ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic transmission.  The all-wheel-drive drivetrain will feature a Borg Warner transfer case. The SUV can reach 100 km/h from standstill in 8.9 seconds in the rear-wheel-drive configuration and 9.1-seconds in an all-wheel-drive setup. In June 2018, VinFast and General Motors entered a partnership that saw the former bagging licensing rights for an all-new global small car that will be produced and sold by the VinFast brand. The new vehicle will launch in 2019 and will be manufactured at a Hanoi-based manufacturing facility that the company acquired from General Motors as a part of this partnership.
