IndianAutosBlog.com learns that the Tata Harrier could be unveiled to media next month. While the launch of the new model is scheduled to take place in the first quarter of next year, the revelation of the production-ready SUV should help the company create sufficient buzz in advance.

Tata Harrier Front Update 2018
The stylish split headlamp arrangement of the of the H5X concept has made it to the production-spec version. The new model is the first recipient of the company's Impact Design 2.0 theme.

The Tata Harrier will be the first production model to follow the Impact Design 2.0 theme. Its aesthetics will mirror those of the H5X concept by 80-85%. At the front, it will have a pair of sleek LED DRLs at the hood-level. Below this, it will feature a headlamp cluster that will hold a projector for the main beam and an ellipsoidal lens for the high beam. These will be followed by a set of fog lamps. The side profile will carry some bold creases and taut surfaces. The production model will ride on 19-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels instead of the 22-inch rims seen on its concept version. The rear-end will be characterised by a pair of sleek tail lamps and a sporty bumper with dual exhaust ports.

The Tata Harrier will be powered by an FCA-sourced 2.0-litre Multijet II turbocharged diesel engine that has been branded 'Kryotec' by Tata Motors. The oil-burner will output a maximum power of 140 hp. The same engine will be used for the seven-seat version (codename: Tata H7X) that will be launched at a later date. That said, it will be up-tuned to offer 170 hp of peak power.

Transmission options for the new model will include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. Tata Motors has reportedly refrained from the usage of the FCA's 9-speed automatic transmission to ensure aggressive pricing of its new flagship. While we are yet to receive an official word on this, the 6-speed AT in question will be a Hyundai-made unit, perhaps the Hyundai Creta's gearbox.

Tata Harrier Rear Update 2018
Tata Motors says the Harrier will deliver "exemplary driving dynamics in urban and rough road environments as a result of the optimised torsional and bending stiffness." (In picture- IAB's exclusive rendering of Tata Harrier's rear-end).
