The Maruti S-Cross, which went on sale in August 2015 and received a mid-cycle facelift in October 2017, has registered a cumulative sales of 100,000 units. The most expensive crossover in the company's local line-up has been on sale in a price bracket of INR 8.85 lakh - 11.45 lakh. It's sold through the NEXA premium dealerships.
Speaking on the achievement, Mr R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki said:
We are thankful to our customers for their love and positive response. S-Cross has clocked over 16% market share in its segment and has helped us delight customers looking for a premium offering from Maruti Suzuki. We have created a highly engaging ownership experience of the S-Cross by introducing many best in segment features which are further complemented by its bold design and premium interiors.
While the pre-facelift Maruti S-Cross was available in two engine variants - 1.6-litre DDiS 320 and 1.3-litre DDiS 200 - the former was shelved with the introduction of the facelift. On the other hand, the 1.3-litre motor gained the SHVS mild-hybrid system that features idle-stop-start and brake energy regeneration systems to boost the overall fuel efficiency of the engine. The 1,248 cc turbocharged oil-burner outputs a maximum power of 90 PS at 4,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 200 Nm at 1,750 rpm.
Maruti Suzuki is reportedly planning to come up with a petrol engine variant of the S-Cross in 2019. The rumoured model will feature the K15B 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated motor that made its debut on the 2018 Maruti Ciaz (facelift). The new engine produces a maximum power of 104.7 PS at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 138 Nm at 4,400 rpm. Transmission options for the refreshed sedan include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic unit. The second generation Maruti Ertiga, which goes on sale on 21 November, will be the second recipient of these engine and transmission choices.

With average monthly sales of 3,649 units*, the Maruti S-Cross enjoys moderate popularity in its price segment. Interestingly, the Hyundai Creta, which was launched just a couple of weeks before the S-Cross, drove past the 300,000 sales milestone in August this year. In spite of a higher price tag (INR 9.44 lakh - 15.04 lakh), it enjoys an average monthly sales of 10,554 units.
