Gaadiwaadi has put out spy images of a totally undisguised 2018 Maruti Ertiga ahead of its official launch on 21 November 2018. Production of the second generation of the highly popular MPV is reportedly underway at the company's Gurgaon-based facility. At the moment, about 100 units of the new model are being produced daily, reportedly.
While the 2018 Maruti Ertiga will look much like the Indonesian-spec Suzuki Ertiga, the latest images reveal that the Indian version will sport a thick chrome applique right below its rear windshield. The grille and the door handle feature a similar chrome garnish.
The dollops of chrome on the exterior should help it pass off for a more upmarket offering in a casual glance. That said, the shiny trim is expected to be restricted to the Z variants.
The 2018 Maruti Ertiga will feature the new K15B 1.5-litre four-cylinder motor that made its debut on the 2018 Maruti Ciaz (facelift). The naturally-aspirated engine outputs a maximum power of 105 PS @ 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 138 Nm @ 4,400 rpm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic.
The diesel variant will be powered by the D13A 1.3-litre turbocharged unit from the current model. It produces a maximum power of 90 PS @ 4,000 RPM along with a peak torque of 200 Nm @ 1,750 RPM. The oil-burner comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Both the engines will be sold with the SHVS dual battery mild-hybrid system.
The 2018 Maruti Ertiga is underpinned by the Heartect platform, which currently supports the Baleno, Swift, Dzire, and Ignis. The Indonesia-spec second generation Ertiga measures 4,395 mm in length, 1,735 mm in width and 1,690 mm in height. This makes the new model 99 mm taller, 40 mm wider, and 5 mm taller than its predecessor. The wheelbase, at 2,740 mm, and the the boot space, at 153-litres, stay unchanged. The Indian version should have mostly similar dimensions.
