This is the fifth occasion that Hero MotoCorp has posted over seven lakh unit sales. Three of those five occasions were in the current fiscal (FY2018-19). The company had sold 7,20,739 units in September last year, which means the Y-o-Y sales growth last month was 7%.
Year-to-Date sales performance is strong too. Hero MotoCorp has already crossed 4.2 million sales in the first six months of this financial year (April – September). The sales figures are expected to grow stronger with the peak festival season coming in October and November. The two-wheeler brand is confident of setting yet another global benchmark in retail sales during the peak of the festive season. It will introduce Destini and Maestro Edge 125cc scooters by next month. These scooters would compete against the likes of Suzuki Access 125, Burgman Street 125 and TVS NTORQ 125 to name a few.
The Hero Destini 125 will be offered as a premium family scooter while the Maestro Edge 125 will be targeted at a younger audience. Both scooters will use the same 124.6 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 'Energy Boost' engine that will be tuned to deliver 8.70 bhp of maximum power at 6,750 rpm and 10.2 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 rpm. The engine will come equipped with Hero’s patented i3S (Idle Stop-Start System) technology.
Hero MotoCorp is also focusing on the 200cc, premium motorcycle segment to boost its sales. The two-wheeler brand commenced the nationwide sales of the Xtreme 200R in September 2018. The motorcycle was also launched in Nepal at NPR 2,86,500 (INR 1.79 lakh). The company is also reportedly planning to launch four motorcycles in the 200-300cc segment over the next 18 months.
The next 200cc motorcycle heading our way from Hero MotoCorp is the Xpulse 200. Meanwhile, another 200 cc motorcycle is reportedly under development. The motorcycle was seen through patent images that were leaked online.
