2018 Tata Tigor (facelift) Launched, Prices start at INR 5.20 lakhs

The 2018 Tata Tiago (facelift) has been launched at a starting price of INR 5.20 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The refreshed version of the company's most affordable sedan carries a handful of cosmetic updates and new features.

The highlights of the refreshed exterior styling include updated headlamps with square chrome elements, clear-lens tail-lights, and a shark-fin antenna. An Egyptian Blue paint shade has been added to the colour options on offer. Furthermore, the new model features chrome highlights on the door handles, front bumper, radiator grille and fog lamp housings.

Tata has introduced a new top-spec XZ+ trim, which comes equipped with a 7.0-inch Harman-sourced touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and doubles up as a display for the reverse camera. Other features include art leather upholstery, driver's side seat-height adjustment, power-folding ORVM with integrated turn indicators, and a shark-fin antenna.

Mechanically, the car remains unchanged. The compact sedan has been available with two engine options - 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel. The former outputs a maximum power of 85 PS @ 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 114 Nm @ 3,500 rpm. The oil-burner produces a maximum power of 70 PS @ 4,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 140 Nm @ 1,800-3,000 rpm. Both the motors come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. An optional 5-speed AMT is available on select trims.

With the launch of the new top-end trim, the Tata Tigor is now available in 4 trims - XE, XM, XZ, XZ+.

With a monthly sales average of 2391 units*, the Tata Tiago-based sub-4 metre sedan hasn't been as successful as its hatchback sibling (8,017 units*). The 2018 Tata Tigor (facelift) should help the company tap the surge in new car sales during this year's festive period.
