The 2018 Suzuki Swift Sport has reportedly been ruled out by Maruti Suzuki owing to weak demand for expensive hatchbacks from non-luxury OEMs.

The highlight of the design of the third generation Suzuki Swift Sport is a more aggressive styling package. At the front-end, it features a sportier grille, a bolder bumper design, and an aerodynamic front lip spoiler. Highlights of the side profile include sporty skirts and 17-inch machined alloy wheels. The rear is characterised by a roof spoiler, a sportier bumper, and dual exhaust pipes. The show car features the signature 'Champion Yellow' paint scheme. The performance-tuned Swift measures 3,890 mm in length, 1,735 mm in width, 1,500 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm and ground clearance of 120 mm.

While the 2018 Suzuki Sport carries various enhancements, the interior doesn't get many changes. The performance version of the popular super-mini offers sports seats, chrome finished gearshift knob, sports alloy pedals, gloss red trim and contrast red stitching on the upholstery along with “Sport” branding. The highlight of the dashboard is a 7-inch Panasonic touchscreen head unit with a 360-degree camera, sat-nav, Bluetooth and radio. Safety features on offer include six airbags, ABS with EBD, Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS), Lane departure warning, Weaving alert function, and Adaptive cruise control.

Powering the 2018 Suzuki Swift Sport is a 1.4-litre turbocharged Boosterjet four-cylinder petrol engine outputs 140 PS of maximum power at 5,500 rpm and 230 Nm of peak torque from 2,500-3,500 rpm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd is said to have ruled out the Swift Sport for India. The reason for this is the sluggish demand for expensive hatchbacks from non-luxury car manufacturers. Reportedly, the company could launch a sportier version of the regular Maruti Swift that will draw power from a 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine.
